CLT Fundamentals in Miami: Design, Engineering, and Logistics

March 31, 2022
The four-person panel includes the project architects, structural engineer, and mass timber project manager to discuss the process of design, engineering, and building erection of the first mass timber CLT building in Miami Dade County. The talk focuses on the positives and challenges of deploying a mass timber building in Southern Florida.

CLT IN-SITU

June 2021

A 3-day workshop program in June of 2021, which was held on-site in Miami that engaged university students, educators, and design/engineering professionals interested in gaining hands-on experience with the CLT construction process, and with the first CLT project in Miami-Dade County.

The event was a collaboration between LU_Lab, Florida Forestry Service and Minimal Impact Engineering.

Symposium: Wood and Everything After

February 2021

During this two-day event, audience members were exposed to the knowledge of leading experts in the mass timber industries of forestry, manufacturing, construction, and design. Through the lens of architecture, we decoded the ecological and economic impacts of the timber industry; discussed wood utilization in construction; challenged antiquated practices; reviewed the past and present works of mass timber design pioneers, and proposed the future of mass timbers and architecture.
